SHAREHOLDER
Thomas M. Spade is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in
South Carolina (7426). He grew up in the Washington, DC Metropolitan
Area, but as the son of a 4th Generation Charleston girl, he felt
the need to return to his ancestral home in 2005 and has been in Charleston
ever since. After earning a Bachelor of
Science in Accounting (with high distinction) from George Mason University
while working in accounting for community association management, he cut his
teeth in public accounting working for a predecessor firm of Dixon Hughes
Goodman in Northern Virginia. After a
stint with a small firm in downtown Charleston, he started Thomas M. Spade,
CPA, P.C. shortly after earning a Master of Science in Accountancy from the
Accountancy Graduate Program at the School of Business of the College of
Charleston.
Beside managing the practice, he is a full time member of the faculty of the Department of Accounting and Business Law of the School of
Business at the College of Charleston. He was an adjunct member of the faculty from 2011 through 2016, and became a full time Instructor of Accounting in 2016.
He teaches courses in Principles of Financial Accounting and Managerial
Accounting, Federal Taxation of Individuals and Businesses, Intermediate Accounting,
and has supervised student internships and Bachelor’s Essays. Thomas has published numerous peer reviewed articles in
major professional and academic journals and is a frequent contributor to national and local
media for tax related news stories. His main duties are dedicated the College of Charleston, however, he is proud to serve those clients which he is able.
Thomas chaired the Finance Council at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church in Charleston, SC from 2006 through 2014 and served as President, Vice
President and Treasurer at various times between 2002 and 2005 of the Board of
Directors for Chestnut Grove Condominium Association in Reston, VA. He has also proudly served as Head Auditor
for numerous Miss America Regional Pageants in the Lowcountry each year since
2011. He is an active volunteer at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Charleston, SC, a member of the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, Beta Gamma Sigma, and is a Lifetime Member of the National Eagle Scout Association.

FIRM ADMINISTRATOR
Ashley brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the administrative side of the firm. Her expertise in administrative details comes from years of experience in the legal field, bringing the attention to detail necessary for law to a CPA firm known for attention to detail.
Ashley grew up in Columbia, SC, but moved to Mt. Pleasant to be closer to family. She holds a paralegal certification from the University of South Carolina, and is a Notary Public for the State of South Carolina.
